For many local residents, the holiday season officially begins with the Tree Lighting at the Jefferson, downtown Richmond's iconic hotel that has overseen more than 100 years of the city's history. The majestic building takes on even more grandeur during the holidays when it shines with the glow of thousands of twinkle lights. Other decorations include hundreds of live poinsettias, hundreds of yards of garlands and several dozen wreaths. The Circle Drive, Grand Staircase and Palm Court lobby serve as focal points, with the highlight being the fully bedecked 30-foot Christmas tree in the Rotunda. Kids love the gingerbread display which is designed based on a surprise theme that changes each year. The lighting takes place on Monday, 12/2 and the decorations are on display through Sunday, 1/5.

  • Holiday Brunch - The Jefferson, 101 W. Franklin St., Richmond, VA 23220
