The Virginia Credit Union River City Half and 5K is a charity marathon race event scheduled for March 8th at 8 AM. The route starts on the University of Richmond campus and takes participants through some of the city's most scenic outdoor areas, including a long stretch next to the banks of the James River. All pledges go toward supporting Sports Backers, a local non-profit that works to promote health and wellness in Richmond through community-driven outdoor physical activity. Tickets for the half-marathon portion of the event cost $105, while tickets for the 5K cost $50. Space is limited, so sign up right away to reserve your spot!

Attending the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour is the perfect way to expand your cinematic horizons. The event runs from March 9th to March 11th from 7 PM to 10:30 PM each day and showcases a handful of different indie films set in far-flung wilderness areas around the globe. Tickets can be purchased online or by phone and cost $7 per person per night. Different films will be shown on each of the three nights, so you can attend as many evenings as you please without seeing the same one twice.

If you're a bookworm who's always hunting for new material, check out the Fountain Book Fair. This massive book sale takes place on the rooftop of Benchtop Brewing Co. on the second Saturday of each month from 12 PM to 4 PM. Each event features hundreds of titles from bestselling authors and local writers alike, all pulled from the shelves of Richmond's own Fountain Bookstore. Some local authors even offer meet-and-greet hours during certain events.
- Pretend Again: A Grown-Up Night at the Museum - 6629 Lake Harbour Drive, Midlothian, VA 23112
Feeling nostalgic for days gone by? Pretend Again offers attendees the chance to let loose and feel like a kid again. During this one-night adults-only gala event hosted by the Children's Museum of Richmond, you'll ride the museum's carousel, play with interactive exhibits, and enjoy food, drinks and dancing with other partygoers. The event is scheduled for March 21st from 7 PM to 10 PM and tickets must be purchased in advance. Admission costs $125 per person with all proceeds going to funding the museum and its many valuable educational programs.
- Richmond SPCA Dog Jog, 5K and Block Party - 2519 Hermitage Road, Richmond, VA 23220
The Richmond SPCA Dog Jog, 5K and Block Party combines fitness, fun, and fundraising all in one action-packed day. From 10 AM to noon on March 22nd, three running events will take place: the timed human-only 5K, the Little Paws fun run for kids aged 4 to 10 and the 1-mile Dog Jog for human-canine teams. From noon to 5 PM that same day, the free block party will offer live music, food trucks, a raffle, pet-friendly activities for kids and their furry friends and much more. Race and raffle entry fees go toward the Richmond SPCA's efforts to care for animals in the local community. Donations will also be accepted during the block party for any non-racers who still want to contribute.
