Richmond Pools

Richmond's summer heat is no joke. With heat indexes regularly crossing the triple-digit mark, many people enjoy visiting pools and splash pads to keep the burning heat at bay. Our real estate agents are no different. Many professionals on our team spend a lot of time at these places over the summer. Read on to learn more about their favorite spots for swimming and splashing near our Richmond homes for sale

  • Fairmont Pool and Splash Pad - 2000 U Street, Richmond, VA 23223
The Fairmont Pool and Splash Pad is a public pool and water play area that is open to Richmond residents from late May to mid-September. The fenced pool area features steps, ramps and bars to make sure inexperienced swimmers and people with physical disabilities can enjoy the water too.

Both the pool and the splash pad are open from noon - 8pm on weekdays and 1 - 5pm on weekends. They are always free to visit. You can even sign your kids up for free swimming lessons to build their skills and confidence in the water.

  • Short Pump Park - 3329 Pump Road, Henrico, VA 23233
Short Pump Park offers folks near our Henrico homes for sale an easy way to beat the heat every summer. This park's splash pad is lined with shade structures to keep parents comfortable while their kids are enjoying the fountains. Take a seat on one of the covered benches or join in the fun on the paved play area around the fountains. Afterwards, you can enjoy some food at one of the picnic shelters, spend some time on the playground, or visit the restored schoolhouse from the turn of the century.

  • Swansboro Pool - 3160 Midlothian Turnpike, Richmond, VA 23224
Unlike most of the places on this list, Swansboro Pool is a free indoor facility. This makes it a great option for a fun outing on a rainy, windy, or unusually cold day. The six-lane pool is rarely busy and can easily accommodate large groups, so even bigger families can visit without worrying about overcrowding. There's no kiddie pool, though, so make sure any kids you bring with you are competent swimmers.

The pool is open from 7am - 8pm on weekdays and runs for a full 24 hours on Saturdays. It's closed all day on Sundays and holidays.

  • Battery Park Pool and Splash Pad - 2917 Dupont Circle, Richmond, VA 23221
You don't have to choose between swimming and splashing at Battery Park Pool and Splash Pad. This location has a free public outdoor swimming pool, a separate smaller kiddie pool and a water play area for kids. Whether you're interested in swimming laps or relaxing on gentle waves, you can do it all here. There's also plenty of space to hang out by the poolside and read, sunbathe, or keep a close eye on your kids. The facility is open from 12 PM to 8 PM on weekdays and closes an hour earlier on weekends.

  • SplashMor at the Children's Museum of Richmond - 2626 West Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23220
On top of all their other stimulating educational exhibits, the Children's Museum of Richmond also has an interactive splash pad called SplashMor. Kids can run through the floor fountains, investigate a mini whirlpool, or slide down a small water slide. The goal of the attraction is to promote active and cooperative play, so even shy children should have no trouble finding some playmates to keep them company during their visit.

Admission to the attraction is included with standard museum tickets. Discounts are also available for teachers and active military members.

Whether it's the height of summer or the dead of winter, there's no end of fun things to do around Richmond. Contact us today to get all the details on any of the gorgeous local homes we're currently representing.
